The 2012 Down Home Derby

2012 was another great event, with live music, fabulous food and drink, live and silent auctions. Hats are a tradition at the Kentucky Derby and this year we held our first Blue Ribbon Hat Parade. Mark your calendars for next year’s event, always the first Saturday in May.

Sponsorships Blue Ribbon Hat Parade
The Down Home Derby offers a range of wonderful sponsorships for those wishing to support our families. Benefits range from tickets to the event to banner signage to entrance signage and classroom name plates and can be had for as little as $500. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, contact David Bakelman at 404.723.8133 or sponsors@cdakids.org. More information is also available in this brochure. You may purchase sponsorships here.

The Blue Ribbon Hat Parade will award prizes in three categories:

  • Creative: The contestant who has made or embellished a hat most creatively
  • Equestrian: Best cowboy hat, riding hat, etc.
  • Best in Show: Best overall hat, whether purchased or crafted.

The Parade will be open to men and women. The entrance fee is $20, proceeds to go towards a new classroom computer for a CDA classroom. For more information, contact Beth Ferguson at 678.525.8755 or hats@cdakids.org. To register, click here.

Nicholas Kneil (http://www.nicholaskniel.com/) has agreed to donate 20% of proceeds from purchases from his shop if attendees print out our Down Home Derby coupon and bring it in. This coupon can be used towards purchasing adornments for the hat you create or it can be used towards the purchase of a hat created by Nicholas.
